I have had replacements to both hips. One in 2011 and one in 2017. Mr Borrill did both my operations and I had absolute confidence in his skills and experience. He came highly recommended from many of me peers who had had knee and hip surgery performed by Mr Borrill. I recommend him to my friends and acquaintances who are in similar circumstances. My activities are back to normal.

I am an active 60 year old who has played football for many years but who stopped playing some 15 years or so ago due to a progressive deflection of the lower part of my right leg.I was recommended to a no. of consultants in different parts of the country all of whom said I would need a new knee at some stage but that as I was still active ie able to go to the gym , cycle ,row etc. that it made sense just to put up with the deformity until pain kicked in and then to have a replacement. I was then referred to Mr. Borrill who on my first examination asked whether anyone had suggested an osteotomy -something I had never heard of. I had the operation 12 months ago and am now playing racket ball with my son ! I have since refered other 'active' friends with knee problems to Mr.Borrill who have all benefited from his expertise.

Mr Borrill undertook partial knee replacement surgery three years ago, at his private practice at the Alexandra. It all went well and, when I considered I needed similar surgery on my other knee, I was more than happy to have Mr Borrill undertake the procedure. I find him approachable and he is excellent at explaining the surgery and any possible adverse effects. I had the surgery at the end of August and have recovered well. Can thoroughly recommend him.

Profile

I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a practice that is predominantly specialist knee surgery for both adults and children.
My specialist knee practice covers all aspects of knee injuries and conditions, treatment and surgery (ligament, cartilage and meniscus). I also perform all types of knee replacement procedures including partial, total and revision knee replacement. I have a special interest in knee joint preservation surgery which includes osteotomy (realignment surgery) either alone or in conjunction with chondral (joint surface cartilage) restoration.
I treat a number of local professional athletes from football, rugby league and union, cycling and taekwondo. I take referrals from local knee colleagues for help with the management of complex knee trauma and conditions.

I have performed the following numbers of soft tissue procedures: 4000 knee arthroscopy (keyhole surgery), 650 ACL reconstructions, 20 ACL repairs, 50 revision ACL reconstructions, 50 other ligament reconstructions (PCL, MCL, LCL, PLC), 60 MPFL reconstruction (kneecap stabilisation), 180 meniscal repairs and two meniscal transplants.

With regard to knee joint preservation I have performed 135 osteotomy procedures and 30 major cartilage resurfacing procedures (ACI/MACI/OATS/MegaOATS) in addition to 200 microfracture procedures.

My joint replacement numbers are 1300 total knee replacements, 190 unicompartmental knee replacements, 90 revision knee replacements and 670 total hip replacements.
